Respiratory medicine

About Respiratory medicine

Difficulty breathing, being out of breath when you walk, having a long lasting cough…. Many symptoms related to breathing are often painful. Also, some people find it hard to breath while sleeping and can not rest well, they also may feel sleepy during the day.

Diseases often include bronchial asthma, cough asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, previous emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and sleep apnea syndrome. Also, prolonged coughing can be a sign of unexpected diseases such as pneumonia, lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis and heart failure.

Respiratory examination

First, a chest x-ray will be performed to check if the lungs or heart have any hidden issues. If you have a lung problem, a chest CT exam may be required. In that case, we will refer you to a general hospital or introduce a medical institution that can carry out a chest CT examination.
If bronchial asthma or COPD is suspected, a lung function test is performed to assess the current condition. If sleep apnea syndrome is suspected, an at home exam will be conducted.

Respiratory treatment

If you are a smoker and have breathing related symptoms, then quitting smoking will ease the symptoms in most cases. However, there are many people who can not quit smoking. In that case, we will use an inhalant or oral medicine to help alleviate the symptoms. In the case of sleep apnea syndrome, treatment methods include weight loss if the case is mild or making and wearing a mouthpiece with the aid of a dentist. In severe cases, treatment using a medical machine is performed (CPAP treatment).
